No place for gray areas: Exposing true colors

“Hi Kitten!”. Is it just a harmless saying? A well-meant compliment? Or sexualized harassment? Supposedly, "Kitten" is a gray area where it's almost impossible to draw the line between flirting and harassment.

We are dispelling the myth of gray areas! You are cordially invited to the following two events:

Digital talk on the book "It´s not that gray" (will be held in German)

11/25/2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In her book "It´s not that gray", author, journalist and podcaster, Sara Hassan, exposes pervasive myths surrounding sexualized harassment and abuse of power and describes the "Red Flag System" - an alert system that detects sexual harassment early, even in gray areas. Sara Hassan highlights how we as a society can take a stand against sexual harassment and become better at addressing abuse of power.

Chalk back event - using colorful chalk to combat sexual harassment 

11/25/2021 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Castle Garden

Joining forces with @catcallsofosna, a project against sexualized harassment in public spaces, Osnabrück University’s Equal Opportunities Office chalks back sexualized harassment. We mean that quite literally: on Instagram, any person affected by sexualized harassment can report to catcallsofosna, or use the anonymous “chalk back form” (AnKREIDEbogen) on the Equal Opportunities Office’s homepage. On 25.11.2021 - the international day against violence against women - we will then chalk down anonymized experiences with sexualized harassment using water-soluble chalk. The event will take place in the Castle Garden (Schlossgarten). Everyone is also cordially invited to join our chalk back event and either chalk down their personal experiences with sexualized harassment or simply support the event.
