Doing intersectionality
in Forschung, Politik und Zivilgesellschaft

Praxisdialog im Rahmen des MA-Seminars ?Einfu?hrung in die Intersektionalita?tsforschung? im Sommersemester 2022

Intersektionalita?t ? also die Beru?cksichtigung mehrerer Differenzierungskategorien bei der Erfassung sozialer Ungleichheit und Unterdru?ckung ? la?sst sich als travelling concept fassen, das in unterschiedlichen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen wie Forschung, Politik und Zivilgesellschaft in Deutschland zunehmend an Sichtbarkeit gewinnt und verbunden mit Begriffen wie Diversita?t oder Heterogenita?t oft als allgemein bekannt und relevant erscheint. Aber welche Praxen bergen sich hinter dem Label? Was genau wird darunter verstanden? Welche Strategien werden entwickelt? Welche Bu?ndnisse werden eingegangen? Worin liegen die Chancen aber auch Herausforderungen von Intersektionalita?t als gesellschaftskritischer und transformativer Ansatz? Um uns diesem Thema grundlegend zu na?hern laden wir zu einem Dialog mit PraktikerInnen ein, die von ihren Erfahrungen und Ansa?tzen berichten. Nach Kurzinputs folgt eine Diskussion im Plenum.

Is there a connection between the university and its meaning as a ?place? of learning and knowledge production?
What are the (possible) relations of ?knowledges? and different ?places?? Are there ?mechanisms? and ?techniques? that lead from the one to the other and back again? What strategies and possibilities of expression can be seen as such arts? Where is the link between knowledge and power - and the place? How can we understand ?centers? and ?margins?
Based on Tony Morrison?s text The Place of the Idea and the Idea of Place and Jacque Derrida?s The University Without Condition, in this workshop, we will explore the meanings of ?place?, its links and connotations to other terms and its relation to what is perceived as ?un/knowledge?, and what it further signifies. In a second part, we will discuss the conditions and possibilities of thinking the places of knowledge(s) and the knowledge(s) of place(s) otherwise.

In this workshop, we will look at how the internet and the algorithmic power emerging with its infrastructural control defines our way of knowing. We will also discuss the concepts such as cybaltern, algorithmic othering, artificial intelligentsia (Tuzcu 2020, 2021, 2022) by analyzing how the current use of artificial intelligence by a tech-savvy group of elites reproduces the asymmetrical power relations between the Global South and the Global North while creating new methods for cultural othering and appropriating colonial knowledge for corporeal benefits.
 
In this workshop, we will analyze specifically the case of the Cambridge Analytica Scandal. The participant will also be asked working in a group during the workshop and make an online research on a specific given topic by using different search engines. They will present their search results and discuss the outcomes collectively.

Europakarten
Technologien des (Macht)Wissens

Der Workshop findet auf Deutsch statt.

Material:

Wir werden uns ?ltere und neue Karten ansehen und nach einer kurzen Einf?hrung gemeinsam analysieren.
Zum Vergleich werden auch Karten aus Schulb?chern heran-gezogen. So k?nnen die Vereinheitlichungs- und Zentralisierungspro-zesse anschaulich diskutiert werden.



Geographien Europas an der Schwelle zur ?Modernen?

In der aktuellen Debatte um Europa, u.a. ausgel?st durch die wirtschaftlichen und politischen Krisen, wird die Europ?ische Union als Wertegemeinschaft und einheitlicher Rechts- und Wirtschaftsraum bezeichnet oder zumindest postuliert. Dem zugrunde liegt eine als r?umliche Einheit begriffene Geographie des ?Kontinents Europas? und der Kontinuit?t und Globalisierung von Kolonialit?t. Die gewaltvolle Europ?isierung der Welt wurde durch wei?e Suprematiedisdurse die sich durch neue visuelle Technologien wie die geographische Karte m?glich gemacht. Dieser geographischen Einheits- und ?berlegenheitsvisualisierungen bzw. deren kartographischer Herstellung gilt das Interesse dieses Workshops. Zus?tlich zu dieser Entwicklung wird von der Grundthese ausgegangen, dass sich in Westeuropa zwischen 1700 und 1860 eine spezifisch geographisch begr?ndete Verr?umlichung des Denk- und Wahrnehmungshorizontes durchsetzte und diese in der Herstellung und Deutung der Kartenwerke ihren Ausdruck fand. Ziel des Workshops ist, den Zusammenhang zwischen Karten, Wissen und Macht zu diskutieren. Es geht um die Beantwortung der Fragen nach der Herstellung und Etablierung Europas als Weltregion, sowie nach seiner hegemonialen Positionierung in einer globalen Raumordnung von ?Zentrum? und ?Peripherie?. Es werden Fragen der Techniken, Technologien, Rezeption, Wirkmacht und Subjektivierungsprozesse aufgeworfen und zur gemeinsamen Auseinandersetzung aufgerufen.
