The Institute for Geoinformatics at the University of Muenster, Germany is offering a full-time position at post-doctoral level as
Postdoctoral Research Fellow (fixed term), (TV-L E13)
to be filled as soon as possible until 31st December 2018, with the possibility for extension beyond that date. The salary for the full time position (current working hours are 39 hours and 50 minutes per week) is according to the German TVL-13 scale. The full pay scale (monthly gross income in Euro) is available at http://goo.gl/LU96j . Successful candidates will be placed in band 13; their level (1 to 5) within this band will be determined based on prior experience.
The main task to be carried out by the successful candidate is to support and facilitate research innovation at ifgi. More specifically, this includes the following activities:
* Evaluating ongoing research activities and identifying links between them;
* Providing suggestions for improvements and synergies across the research labs, the faculty and the university as a whole; and
* Preparing and supporting the application for a new PhD program that integrates the entire institute.
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD degree in Geoinformatics, Computer Science or a related discipline. They should have a strong interest and background in at least one research area linked to the topics covered by the institute's research labs, e.g. smart cities, location-based services, mobile and ubiquitous computing, spatio-temporal data modeling, spatial cognition (see http://www.uni-muenster.de/Geoinformatics/en/research/index.html)<http://www.uni-muenster.de/Geoinformatics/en/research/index.html%29>. Excellent technical skills are a prerequisite for applying. Prior experience in working in a large-scale international project, including managerial aspects and funding acquisition, would be desirable.
The post comes with mandatory teaching duties of four hours per semester. The appointment explicitly includes the opportunity to develop an independent research profile and to acquire funding for the establishment of a research group.
